Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of Fallout: New Vegas, and South Park: The Stick of Truth today officially confirmed the release of Pillars of Eternity II.

The game has been launched on the crowdfunding site Fig, which is a different kind of crowdfunding where people can pledge for rewards and actually get an investment into the project in return, with an equity stake.

They have a funding goal of $1.1 million, with $2.25 million open for equity. The CEO of Obsidian, Feargus Urquhart said the following about the campaign:

“We are so thankful to our fans, who believed in us and made the original Pillars a huge crowdfunding success.”

“For the sequel, wehave turned to Fig for our fan-funding needs because we not only wanted our fans to help shape Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, but to financially share in its potential as well.”

The aim of this game is to build upon what they did with the first Pillars of Eternity, but add upon it with what they claim to be “truly living cites” in an open-world environment.

They released the following trailer to provide you with a quick look at that.

We don’t have a release date yet, however, we are sure that more information about this game will be revealed over time.
