[Update December 23rd – By Tim Edwards] On December 12th, Niantic revealed that they will be bringing some of the second-generation characters to Pokemon Go via egg hatching, as well as the addition of Santa hatch donning Pikachus.
Today, Niantic revealed that they will be expanding the holiday event for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, revealing the following:
Don’t miss out on an increased chance to hatch a Togepi (and other Pokémon)! Starting the morning of December 25, 2016, and through the afternoon of January 3, 2017 (PST), PokéStops will award one single-use Incubator each day after your first Photo Disc spin. As you visit PokéStops during this time period, there will be a greater chance of finding Eggs that hatch Togepi, Pichu, and several other recently found Pokémon, originally discovered in the Johto region.
In addition, from the afternoon of December 30, 2016, through the afternoon of January 8, 2017 (PST), the first partner Pokémon and their Evolutions, originally discovered in the Kanto region, are more likely to be encountered. This means a greater chance to catch Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur, as well as Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard, plus Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise!
So basically, From December 25th, 2016 to January 3rd, 2017, Pokestops will be providing you with a single-use Incubator each day after your first spin, with a greater chance to find the new Togepi, Pichu and other Pokemon during these dates.
There will also be a greater chance to find the original starting Pokemon from December 30th, 2016 to January 8th, 2017.
But as Nicholas Griffin said in the original article, “is this enough to bring you back?”
[Original – By Nicholas Griffin]
When it first launched Pokemon Go was top of all of the stores it was available in, it was making tons of money and quickly became such a phase that even train stations had to warn you about playing it.
But that phase quickly wore off, players were left frustrated with a game that was broken in a number of areas and that had not received a sufficient update to keep players playing.
But today, Niantic is looking to draw some of the players who left back to the game, releasing a new update that will bring both Gen. 2 Pokemon and a Pikachu with a Christmas hat on to the game.
The update was released today and brings a number of second generation Pokemon from the Pokemon Gold and Silver games, we don’t know how many, but Niantic has confirmed that Pichu, Togepi, and others will be included in the update.
However, you won’t be able to catch them on the streets.
All of the Gen.2 Pokemon will only be available from acquiring and hatching eggs that you have received from a Pokestop.
But they have added something you can capture today, and that is a special edition version of Pikachu that is wearing a Christmas hat.
You can catch that version of Pikachu from today until December 29th if you are interested.
