You may remember the app Popcorn Time, that was released a few months ago, quickly taken down a few weeks later, and then re-released by somebody else.

Since that re-release the app for streaming torrents like Netflix, the app has received a number of new updates, and has today received support to stream content to a TV via the Google Chromecast.

Users of the Chromecast dongle will be able to do this via the Alpha Popcorn Time application for PC, linking directly to the Chromecast itself.

Alongside that, the update also brought better security for its users.

The app also currently supports devices running Android 4.2 or above, Mac OS 10.7 or above, Windows Xp or above, and both 32-bit and 64-bit Linux installations in the beta.

Users of the beta application for Windows Xp or above will be the only ones that can use the new Chromecast functions however.

You can download the Alpha version of Popcorn Time here, or the beta version of it here.
