Popslate was launched back in April 2015, providing the iPhone with a second e-ink display via a case.
And now the creators have announced that they will be launching the PopSlate 2, kicking off the project on their Indiegogo page. The creators say that they have learned a lot from the original device, with the company founder stating:
“We were able to create a product that effectively transforms your iPhone into a super-phone, by integrating the key functionality of a smart watch, e-reader, and battery case into one thin and elegant device.”
In terms of hardware, the 2nd generation PopSlate is 40 percent thinner than the previous model and is available for both the iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6S Plus.
It also features three capacitive buttons on the bottom, with the inclusion of a Lightning port to allow the case to connect directly to your iPhone, allowing the case to charge your iPhone. It is said to offer an extra 5 hours of web browsing and will allow you to charge both the case and the phone with a single cable.
It also includes some new software, with a social media dashboard and a digital wallet to enable you to store tickets, membership cards and boarding passes on the E-Ink display.
It will also let you read books, and check up information without waking your iPhone. The case can run up to five of these apps.
The PopSlate 2 is available on Indiegogo now, the iPhone 6/6S version will be $129 and the iPhone 6/6S Plus will be priced at $149.
