You probably know the Professor Layton game series quite well by know, bring one of the biggest games on both the DS and the 3DS since it launched.

Due to this success, the Professor Layton series has now been launched on the iPhone and the iPad, but with a little twist.

The game doesn’t actually feature Professor Layton, and instead features his son, Alfendi Layton. And it’s not just the characters that have been changed, as so has the gameplay.

Here’s the official description:

“Genius investigator, Inspector Alfendi Layton and his newly assigned assistant, Detective Constable Lucy Baker, research only the most extraordinary cases in the “Mystery Room” deep within Scotland Yard. Investigate the evidence, find the contradictions, and unravel the truth that lies shrouded in mystery!”

The game is available from the iTunes Store today as a free download, however for more case packs you will need to make in-app purchases, costing £1.99 for the third pack and £1.49 for the fourth.
