If you have been around for some time then you might have heard of a company called THX.

They are an audio and video quality assurance company that George Lucas originally founded as part of LucasFilm back in 1983, in that time it has been acquired by a few different companies, and today that list as been expanded with the addition of Razer.

Yup, Razer have acquired THX.

The gaming company has decided to do this as part of a move outside of the games industry.

Razer’s CEO Min-Liang Tan said in an interview with TechCrunch that THX will be spun out as a startup after being recapitalised by Razer. It will be run independently of Razer under the existing management.

Razer plans to build upon the current employment of 50 people at both THX’s HQ and in their other offices around the world.

Razer has not disclosed any further details about the deal, with no pricing just yet, however, when we hear more we will let you know.
