It may seem like an odd thing to do but there are occasions when you might want to record a phone call, not just in order to do some detective work but also for the purpose of creating television content or keeping recordings for your own records.

This is something that is quite common on fixed phone lines, however, it’s not as common on smartphones.

Although there are apps on both iOS and Android, they often require you to make the call from that app, meaning that you can’t use it with the default caller app or any other app such as WhatsApp.

Today a new adapter was unveiled for the iPhone. Called the Call Recorder, it is an adapter from PhotoFast that plugs into the Lightning port of your iPhone and will allow you to record calls from any app on your smartphone, be that anything from the default phone app to the WhatsApp application.

And it features a 3.5mm headphone jack that allows you to listen to phone calls at the same time as recording them, as well as a microSD card slot for storing phone calls on that instead of your iPhone’s storage, should you prefer that.

They are looking for backing on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform and are offering backers with a pre-order of the recorder for from $125.
