The high-end camera manufacturer, RED announced that they are working on a premium smartphone that they are calling the Hydrogen One.

They revealed this with the publishing of a press release, which explains their plans for the Hydrogen One which they say has a “holographic display”, which is a 5.7-inh display that will be capable of “seamlessly [switch] between traditional 2D content, holographic multi-view content, 3D content, and interactive games” according to the company.

Of course, this smartphone isn’t actually a real thing that you can hold just yet, so we don’t know how this works, however, it is very unlikely that it will be holographic like Star Wars but more like the 3DS.

How useful that will be is yet to be answered.

RED has also said that the smartphone will be modular, however, the attachments have not yet been detailed and they won’t be available at launch either.

Aside from that, it basically be a high-end Android phone with USB-C, a microSD card slot and a headphone jack.

That said, this phone won’t be shipping until early 2018, so they have some time to flesh those specifications out.

They have said that the specifications and the design of the smartphone are subject to change.

On top of that, the phone has been reported at a price of $1,195 for the aluminium version of the smartphone or $1,595 for the titanium of the smartphone.
