Today Ring announced the second generation version of their Ring Video Doorbell, called the Ring Video Doorbell Mark 2 it adds 1080p recording and a removable battery to the doorbell camera.

That recording upgrade is particularly interesting because it means that you can now record and stream in 2080p rather than 720p.

In a similar way to the Ring Pro, the Ring 2 will also feature interchangeable faceplates and it will be a completely wireless device now thanks to its removable battery. Aside from that it’s pretty similar to the original.

It features a 160-degree field of view as well as a 180-degree motion detection angle, along with two-way audio which allows you to speak to a visitor via your smartphone or computer, and 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz WiFi.

It can also be wired into an existing doorbell transformer connection if you prefer.

Ring has also improved night vision since the original model.

Currently, the Ring Video Doorbell 2 will be available in the US only from Best Buy, Home Depot, and Ring’s website.

We will update you should we find out about a UK release date.
