During their Samsung Unpacked 2014 event at IFA today Samsung announced the release of the the Galaxy Note 4.

In terms of its design, the Note 4 still has the soft texture backing, but with a metal frame, and 2.5 D glass that allows for a curved display, which has been updated to be stronger. It also weighs 176g and is 8.5mm thin.

The Note 4 comes with the Galaxy S5’s design, but with a new UX design interface, with transparent widgets that allows you to see the screensaver. There’s also a new dynamic lock screen feature, that links with Yahoo to show images based on your interests.

In terms of display, the Note 4 has a 2560 x 1440 resolution 5.3 inch Quad-HD Super AMOLED display, that Samsung says is more compact but more powerful.

The Multi Windows feature has been updated, now integrated with the recent key, allow users to get to it more quickly, allowing users to easily switch between apps in a windowed design, without the user of your finger, but with further integration with the S Pen.

S Pen has also been updated with improved handwriting abilities, with a doubled pressure sensitivity that allows users to write much like they would normally. There’s also new calligraphy and fountain pen options.

There’s also a new feature called Smart Select that allows you to capture multiple selections at once and then share them easily. This is done with the Smart Pen easily and quickly in a small windowed menu, and from multiple different sources.

The user then simply drags and drops this window into the app they want to share it with. There’s also a new S Note widget that allows users to quickly make a note with the multiple noting apps.

The cameras have also been updated with a 16MP camera on the back with OIS, and a 3.7MP on the front with a F1.9 aperture. The front-camera can also capture images with 60% more light, as well as a new feature with the heart rate sensor, allowing the user to take the photo with the button allowing for a more stable shot.

The viewing angle has also be updated to 90 degrees, with a new 120 degree wide angle mode.

The battery also has a new fast charging feature, that allows users to charge up to 50% in 30 minutes according to Samsung.

The Galaxy Note 4 will be available in black, white, gold and pink in October. No price point has been announced yet.
