The Samsung Galaxy S5 was released in the UK on April 11th, on which it broke Samsung’s own record, selling double the number of handset than what the Samsung Galaxy S4 did on its first day.

This is news coming from Phones 4U, who state that pre-registrations for the handset reached 10,000 ahead of its pre-order launch, with pre-orders for the S5 outnumbering those of the S4 “significantly”.

Scott Hooton, chief marketing officer at Phones 4u said: “We’re incredibly pleased with the success it’s had at Phones 4u in such a short space of time already, with sales of the new smartphone being double those seen for the Galaxy S4 on its launch day last year.”

Carphone Warehouse are also stating similar sales figures, reporting that “sales for the new Samsung smartphone are up 150 per cent since launch day versus sales for the Samsung Galaxy S4 over the same period last year.”
