Earlier this month, Samsung revealed that they will be unveiling a brand new Galaxy flashship in March, taking over from the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge that they released a year ago, it is said that they will reveal the Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus on March 28th.

Until then we won’t know any official news about either device until that time, however, we do have a number of rumours and leaks to work with, revealing some of the details about the features, the possible release date, and the rumoured price tag.

In this article, we will roundup all of those details and update them as we hear more about them.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus

Let’s start with the release date and price.

According to a recent rumour that was posted by a well-known leaker Roland Quandt, both of these devices will be priced at 799 Euro for the S8 model, and 899 Euro for the S8 Plus model.

Previously, we have also heard that both devices will go on sale on April 21st with pre-orders from April 10th. But it has been reported by VentureBeat that it might have been pushed back to April 28th, so we would prefer to average that out to a possible April release date.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be out in Black, Silver and Violet (!) colors, retail listings show. S8 priced at 799, S8+ at 899 Euro.

They will reportedly be available in Black, Silver and Violet colour options.

Samsung Galaxy S8

We have heard a lot of reports about the Samsung Galaxy S8 over the last few months, but the prevailing rumour is that the devices will feature a display that curves around the front of the smartphone, with a nearly bezel less display, aside from the slim bezels along the top and bottom of the smartphone.

According to other rumours, the S8 will also feature a dedicated side-mounted button to launch Samsung’s new Bixby-powered personal assistant that was reportedly developed by the Siri-founded Dag Kittlaus and will reportedly be called Viv on phone.

We have also heard that Samsung will remove the physical home button from the S8 with this release, in favour of on-screen navigation.

With the removal of the home button, it has been said that the fingerprint will be moved to the strange position of next to the camera on the back.

All of this is said to be featured in a 5.7-inch display with a 131.58 x 68.05 x 142mm dimensions.

According to rumours, the S8 Plus will be very similar to the original S8, but with a larger body obviously.

According to these rumours, it will be named the S8 Plus as Samsung has removed the ‘Edge’ branding in favour of bringing that edge-to-edge display to both versions.

Because of the aspect ratio, reports have claimed that the screen on the S8 Plus will be 145.05 x 64.94 131.58mm, however, we haven’t heard about dimensions for the actual device.

According to rumours, the Galaxy S8 will either feature a 5.7-inch or a 5.8-inch display, with a reported 90 percent screen-to-display via the new infinity edge-to-edge display.

All of which will reportedly be wrapped around the entirety of the front of the smartphone.

Leaks have suggested that the S8 will feature a 2K Super AMOLED curved Quad HD AMOLED display.

The S8 Plus will reportedly have a 6.2-inch display or possibly 6.1-inch if you think about the rounded corners of the smartphone. As with the normal version, reports have claimed that it will have an infinity edge-to-edge display with a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Reports have also stated that the S8+ will have a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display.

These rumours also go as far as to let us know about the cameras on Samsung’s new flagships, according to which, the Galaxy S8 will have a dual rear-facing camera with two sensors, one of which is 12 megapixel, the other is 13-megapixel.

It was also claimed that the front-facing sensor will be 8-megapixel.

That said, another leak has stated that the rear camera will be 30-megapixel with optical image stabilisation and the front sensor will be 9-megapixel, which is possible.

Samsung Galaxy S8

it’s been a year since Samsung released their last flagship, so we expect the new S8 and S8 Plus to feature some impressive specifications.

Previous leaks have suggested that the S8 will feature either a 3.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, with 6GB of RAM, however, it has also been said that it could feature an Exynos 8895 chipset with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM, however, this could be for different regions.

It has also been stated that the S8 will feature 64GB/ 128GB of internal storage, with a microSD card slot for expansion, along with a massive 4,200 mAh battery.

It has also been said that the smartphone will have a USB Type-C port for charging and syncing, along with Harman-branded speakers.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus

Rumours have suggested that the S8 Plus will be similar, however, we would expect it to be a little faster with a larger battery.

That said, we haven’t heard many rumours that suggest this so far.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus

Because they are the latest smartphones, we would expect both of the smartphones to run on Android 7.1 Nougat along with the latest version of TouchWiz, which we haven’t heard much about just yet.

We would expect Samsung to slim things down a lot more, since that seems to be the trend and is definitely what customers want from new smartphones.
