Reports are coming in that Samsung is currently under investigation by Taiwanese authorities for allegedly hiring students to post malicious comments about HTC on various sites.

Sun Lih-chyun, a spokesperson for the  Taiwanese Fair trade Commission said that ”the case was set up last week after we received complaints” about the company, claiming that Samsung had paid people to praise Samsung, and criticize HTC, presumably during the launch of the HTC One.

If found guilty the company could be fined Tw$25 million or $835,000.

In response to these allegations, Samsung Taiwan stated on their Facebook page, that it “any inconvenience and confusion from the Internet event” and that they have now halted all Internet marketing such as posting articles on websites”.

However, as far as we know, there is no official statement from Samsung just yet.
