As has been rumoured for quite some time now, Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones during its Unpacked event at MWC 2016, set to be Samsung’s next flagships, the new smartphones come with a range of new features and a brand new design.

On first look you may not realise this, as it has the similar design to that which we seen with the Galaxy S6, however, it has actually changed quite a lot. With a new curved back, that has been built using metal and glass. The Edge takes this further with a display that wraps around the entire phone.

In terms of display, you get a 5.7 inch curved Super AMOLED display on the Edge, with a 5.1-inch display on the normal S7.

Both smartphones will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with either an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4G of RAM, or an Exynos processor.

Both come with 32GB of internal storage and microSD card slots.

In terms of the camera, they both has 12MP rear-facing cameras, but with a f/1.7 aperture and better low-light performance. You will also find a 3,600 mAh battery inside the Edge, with a 3,000 mAh battery in the normal S7.

What’s more, the smartphone is also IP68 water and dust resistant, allowing the smartphone to be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 20 minutes at a time, but thankfully this doesn’t mean annoying flaps on the phone as the phone’s ports have been sealed. The S7 and S7 Edge also uses traditional Micro USB instead of USb-C because the Gear VR supports Micro USB.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be released in the US from March 11th, with pre-orders available from February 23rd. It will be released in black and gold for the S7 or black, gold and silver for the S7 Edge. Those who purchase the device from February 23rd to March 18th will also get a free Gear VR.
