Samsung devices will soon receive a new application, called Samsung Wallet the app will be a direct rival to Apple’s Passbook service offering quick access to a users for  “coupons, membership cards, tickets and boarding passes.” Unveiled during a developer session during Mobile World Congress 2013, the app will support services from a range of services at launch, including Walgreens, Belly, Major League Baseball Advanced Media, Expedia,, and Lufthansa.

Which as you might have guessed, this means that the app will likely focus on the US market initially.

During the conference, Samsung mentioned that app developers will be able to send time and location-based push notifications through the app, and provide real-time updates to points or boarding passes.

The app is still in developer and only select partners will get access from today, however it has been revealed that the API will be available for developers from March 7th, launching to the public in May 2013.
