Samsung has just unveiled their new Gear Fit at their Unpacked 5 event at MWC 2014, aimed at those who want a band dedicated to fitness, the Gear Fit is primarily a fitness band, but does also connect with your smartphone for receiving notifications from apps, SMS, calls, email and syncing with Samsung and other third-party applications.

In terms of fitness the band features a pedometer, heart rate tracker, sleep monitor, stopwatch and timer, which can be synced with the S Health app to track how well the user is keeping fit or not.

Technical specifications also include a curved 1.84 inch Super AMOLED display with a 432 x 128 pixel resolution, Bluetooth LE 4.0, a 2100mAh battery that is said to last up to five days and sensors that include an accelerometer, gyro and heart rate.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear Fir will also allow for its strapped to be changed on the go.

Samsung’s new Gear Fit will have changeable straps in Black, Orange, or Mocha Grey colours, no pricing or release dates have been released yet, but we expect the device to launch globally in April.
