As was expected, Samsung unveiled to latest smartphone to be launched in the Galaxy Note series, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which is the first time that we have seen a new Note smartphone since the Note 7 launch last summer, hopefully, the Note 8 doesn’t go the same way.

The biggest change since last year is the display.

The Note 8 features a much larger 6.3-inch near bezel-free AMOLED Infinity Display that is similar to the S8 and S8 Plus.

It features a quad HD-plus resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels with curves along the sides of the smartphone, which you can use to launch apps right from the Edge Panel, which Samsung has upgraded with the ability to launch two apps at the same time.

Alongside that, Samsung also updated the S Pen.

At first look, it is the same as the Note 7 version with a 0.7mm tip and 4,096 points of sensitivity, however, Samsung has updated it with more smart features that include Live Messages that can turn your handwritten messages into GIFs for any purpose.

They also made better use of the phone’s always-on display, with the ability to take notes without lag, as soon as you eject the S Pen.

You can also pin notes to the screen and edit them right from that spot with a new translation feature that allows you to translate text by hovering over them with the pen.

In terms of other hardware, the Note 8 comes with either a Snapdragon 835 or an Exynos 8895 depending on your market, with 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of storage (also depending on your region), 6GB of RAM, and a pretty great 3,300mAh battery.

The Note 8 also features a new dual rear-facing camera setup with a 12-megapixel f/1.7 wide-angle sensor and another 12-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto sensor that are paired together for increased zoom and depth of field features.

There’s also an 8-megapixel front-facing camera on the front.

In the US, it will be available in midnight black and orchid grey on August 24th for pre-order, and from stores on September 15th.

In the UK, you will be able to pre-order the Note 8 from today and it will be released on September 15th.

From some retailers in the UK, you will be able to get a free DeX alongside the smartphone, which will be priced at £869 SIM free.
