Today Samsung unveiled a brand new portable SSD that is simply a beast.

It is called the Samsung T5 and features 96-layer technology with V-NAND technology that means that the SSD can handle RAW 4K footage easily.

The drive uses the latest 64-layer V-NAND and USB 3.1 gen 2 tech that allows it to reach up to 540 MB/s transfer speeds with any compatible computer (A PC with USB 3.1 gen 2 tech, capable of up to 10Tbps), making it one of the fastest external drives around right now and it is about five times as fast as a mechanical drive.

To top that off, the T5 comes with massive capacities that include 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and 2 TB, with support for 256-bit hardware encryption and it even comes with a compatible smartphone app.

As the name suggests, the T5 is also extremely portable at 3.0 x 2.3 x 0.4 inch in dimensions and weighing in at just 51 grams.

Samsung has also included a USB-C to C and a USB-C to A cable.

Of course, that is all going to cost you.

The 250GB T5 is $130 and it goes all the way up to $800 for the 2TB version.
