The flash storage manufacture, SanDisk has today announced a brand new high-performance SD memory card, dubbed the Extreme Pro SDHC/SDXC UHS-II, it offers new methods for storing 4K video recordings, as well as offering continuous burst shooting in both RAW and other high-resolution formats.

It has also been optimised for high-end DSLRs and pro video camera, and is UHS Speed Class 3 enabled, offering up 250MB/s write speeds, as well as speeds up to 280MB/s speeds for transferring.

SanDisk state that this all leads up to a card that is “industry-leading” when it comes to read and write speeds, stating that it will offer the highest video performance, whilst allowing for the capturing of cinema=quality 4K, 3D and Full HD videos.

Alongside the card, SanDisk also announced the SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II card reader/writer. which features a USB 3.0 interface that is capable of transferring speeds up to 500MB/s, which is reportedly 10 times faster than any other USB 2.0 card reader.

Both of the products are now available from SanDisk’s website now, and worldwide from April, with sizes ranging from 16GB to 64GB capacities, the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-II card will be priced between $119.99 and $299.99, whilst the SanDisk card reader will be priced at $49.99.
