Microsoft has just revealed that Satya Nadella has been appointed as the companies new Chief Executive Officer. The former Vice President of Microsoft’s CLoud and Enterprise group is now at the top of company, taking the role from the previous CEO, Steve Ballmer after he revealed that he would be stepping down last year.
But that’s not all, interestingly they also announced that Bill Gates will also be taking a role at the company, playing the part of a technology adviser, he has once again decided to devote a huge section of his time to Microsoft, stepping out of his retirement.
In an interview gates said the following about Nadella as the new CEO: “During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella.”
“Satya is a proven leader with hard-core engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together. His vision for how technology will be used and experienced around the world is exactly what Microsoft needs as the company enters its next chapter of expanded product innovation and growth.”
Nadella first started at Microsoft when he was only 22 years old, and since which time he as been an important part of the puzzle for the companies move to cloud and the development of its cloud infrastructure, but now he will go on to be an instrumental part across the company.
“Microsoft is one of those rare companies to have truly revolutionised the world through technology, and I couldn’t be more honoured to have been chosen to lead the company,” Nadella said.
“The opportunity ahead for Microsoft is vast, but to seize it, we must focus clearly, move faster and continue to transform. A big part of my job is to accelerate our ability to bring innovative products to our customers more quickly.”
