The Former Mozilla CTO, Andreas Gal has this week unveiled his next project, Silk Labs which was co-founded by the ex-CTO to launch a new device called ‘Sense’, which has been designed to be the smart hub to rule all of your smart home devices, automatically adapting to your needs over time and responding to your behavior and patterns.

The project is now looking for backing on the Kickstarter service, and will allow the user to control their devices to do anything from turn on or off the lights, adjust the thermostat, control your security devices or just change the music.

What makes it special is that it can do all of this in a manner that has been designed to suit your specific needs, using things like facial recognition or Bluetooth LE to identify who’s entering the house, as well as data that the user has inputted in the companion app.

It also allows for interaction via voice and gestures.

Sense has been designed to work with a number of smart home devices, including Philips Hue, LIFX, Nest and Sonos, with more planned for the future.
