Earlier last year Sky launched something called the Sky Store Buy & Keep service, which allowed users to watch a film on Sky, and then get the DVD delivered to your door soon after.
When it launched the service was not available to all however, with the service only launching for a select few customers in the UK.
As of today that has changed and the service is now available throughout the UK and Ireland.
“People want the simplest and most convenient way to buy and watch the movies they love, which is why it’s great news that from today Buy & Keep will be available to everyone and across multiple devices. Sky Store offers the complete service – straight to your TV, across your devices and you get the DVD in the post too”. – Nicola Bamford, Director of Sky Store.
Within the service there is also a new “follow me” function that allows Sky Store customers to begin watching a movie on one of their registered devices, pause it and then resume the movie on a different one of their registered devices, all they need is to be connected to the internet.
With the service you can register up to four devices, and movies will be streamable on two devices simultaneously.
This will be available on Android as well as for Now TV, Roku and YouView boxes, as for iOS, the app is only a player at present, so iOS users have to visit the Sky Store website to purchase content.
With the Buy & Keep range, digital editions will be priced between £7.99 and £13.99, however films are only available in standard and high-definition, with no Blu-ray option.
