The newest downloadable content for Skyrim is available today on the Xbox marketplace. The DLC will also be available on PC and PS3 but not until early next year. It has been stated that this new DLC will feel like all new content instead of the minor add ons offered by Dawnguard and Hearthfire. When Skyrim was first released Bethesda promised that each new DLC would feel like an expansion to the game, but it has yet to deliver this promise with the almost shoddy attempts we have seen so far. Don’t get me wrong, the introduction of Vampires and Crossbows to Dawnguard was amazing but the quests just felt samey and got boring very quickly. In Dawnguard you are offered the chance to ride dragons and explore a brand new island Solstheim.

This new Dragonborn content takes place on the island of Solstheim, which has been explored before in an older Elder Scrolls game, Morrowind: Bloodmoon. Much like the original exploration of this island it is full of danger, monsters and people in need of your help. There is quite a fair bit to explore and do on this new island, it is so big that it requires its own new map. This is obviously a good thing seeing as Skyrim has been out for over a year now and as such you have probably explored the original map more times than you can bare thinking about. A new map feels nice and refreshing to the game.

The official description of the game can be found here: ‘With Dragonborn, journey off the coast of Morrowind, to the island of Solstheim. Encounter new towns, dungeons, and quests, as you traverse the ash wastes and glacial valleys of this new land. Become more powerful with shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons. Your fate, and the fate of Solstheim, hangs in the balance as you face off against your deadliest adversary – the first Dragonborn.’

This new DLC is priced at 1600 Microsoft points which is roughly £13. Obviously you would expect to be getting a fair bit of new content for this price and Dragonborn doesn’t fail to deliver. If you feel that your Skyrim needs a burst of new life then this will be exactly what you need.

Fancy downloading the game now, here’s the link to the new DLC. Skyrim: Dawnguard
