Sonos has today revealed its replacement to the old Play 5 speaker that was released over six years ago, but it isn’t just a simple update, this new Play 5 speaker has a brand new design, a brand new sound and a range of new features.

One of the biggest of which is the Sonos app, Trueplay which will analyse the users layout and the acoustics of their room using the microphone on their iPhone or iPad and then adjust the speaker for where it has been placed.

This should mean that wherever you place the Play 5 you should end up with a good sound.

And its great to look at too, with a total of six drivers inside of the speaker and a number of sensors that allow it to know if it is being laid flat or turned on its side.

On the top you will also find a touch-sensitive control panel that allows you to control it without the app.

The new Play 5 will work as both a single unit or as part of a group, allowing users to join more than one in order to have a room filling sound.

The new Play 5 will be made available later this year for £429, and is available for pre-order today.
