Today a new set of invites were released to the press for an upcoming launch event that will take place in New York on October 4th.

You can see the invite in the image above, which simply shows a mouth.

While this might not seem like much, it may be hinting at some kind of voice recognition, which we expect to be included in an Amazon Echo-esk smart speaker that has been rumoured for some time now.

This device has been leaked some time ago in a US Federal Communications Commission filing that was first spotted by Zatz Not Funny and shows “product model S13” with “integrated voice control functionality” and support for “multiple voice platforms and music services”.

We also saw an image of a user interface with a microphone icon in the FCC filing alongside that it will feature far-field microphones, however, we don’t know much about this yet. The support for multiple platforms could mean that it will support Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.

Sadly, that’s all just a guess right now.

We will be sure to update you as soon as we hear about the official news.
