Amongst a number of other Z3 products, Sony announced the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact during their press event at IFA 2014 today, featuring an 8-inch Triluminos display that has been enhanced with Sony’s Live Colour LED technology and features a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 275ppi.

This smaller display also means the tablet itself is much smaller, measuring only 213.4 x 123.6 x 6.4mm and weighing only 270 grams. It will also feature the Xperia Z Omnibalance design, with stainless steel corners and a tempered glass front that grants it an IP65/68 rating.

Inside there’s a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The storage can then be expanded up to a further 128GB via the addition of a microSD card.

The Z3 compact also has an 8.1 megapixel camera on the back, and will be available in black or white, with LTE or Wi-Fi-only versions available in Autumn 2014.

As of yet no pricing details have been announced.
