Sony has revealed some impressive numbers for the sales of the PlayStation 4 gaming console this week, revealing that the company has sold more than 30 million units to date.

This is the exciting news that the PlayStation 4 is a massive success, with 40 million units sold of the console as of May 22nd, 2016.

Sony launched the PlayStation 4 console back in November 2013, since which time it has been overtaking the Xbox One sales since launch.

Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment said more in the following statement:

“We will strive to deliver even more exciting gaming experiences to our users, further driving the momentum and accelerating the expansion of the PS4 platform and its business this fiscal year by offering an unparalleled line-up of games, bringing our virtual reality system, PlayStation VR, to market and providing ground-breaking features and network services.”

On top of this news, they also revealed that there has been a total of 270.9 million game sales for the PlayStation 4 sold to date.
