Presumably Sony figured the iTunes App Store didn’t have enough applications to read books on, and released their own application to do so simply named “Reader- eBooks from Sony”.

The app allows you access all of your Reader purchases on the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad, which is extremely similar to other applications with the store, but Sony says the app is more than just that with a “natural, book-like reading experience”.

They also claim that the apps purchases can be easily navigated, “as easy as the turn of a page” with personalized collections and library organisation features.

Within the app you can also adjust the font size and contrast how you like it, or create/ edit bookmarks as you read, there’ also different options for day and night viewing.

The app is available today from the iTunes App Store, customers who do download the app will receive “Trouble on Reserve” which is an exclusive short story from Kim Harrison.
