Sony have announced a new tablet to hit stores this year, the Xperia Tablet S, which was revealed during Sony’s press conference at IFA in Berlin, the tablet will feature a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a full-sized SD card slot, and the choice of 16GB, 32Gs or 64GBs of in-built storage.

The device also comes with USB and HDMI output alongside Bluetooth 3.0 and a 9.4 inch touchscreen with a 1280 x 900 resolution, 8 megapixel camera to the rear and another 1 megapixel camera on the front.

A you would expect the tablet also includes an ambient light sensor, gyro, compass, accelerometer and GPS are fitted as standard, and claims to have a battery that will last 10 hours. The coolest part however is the IR Blaster which has been included to control Sony’s various home entertainment equipment.

The Xperia Tablet S will hit US stores on September 7th for $399 for the 16GB model, $499 for the 32GB and $599 for the 64GB, no UK prices or release date have been announced yet but we should hear more soon.
