Sony has this week announced the release of a new 4K monitor, called the PVM-X550, the monitor was originally unveiled at NAB 2016 for high-resolution viewing.

It is sized at 55-inches, and like other Sony products, it uses an OLED display to provide better representation.

It is also fully compatible with High Dynamic Range (HDR) content, making it great for anyone who wants to do graphics or video processing on the monitor.

It also comes with a 12-bit output signal, with the ability to customize various display settings.

Gary Mandle, Senior Product Manager, Sony Electronics explains:

“As demand grows for 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) content, production teams and their clients need more tools for evaluating video. This new monitor delivers quad-viewing flexibility in a size that meets the need for larger, more detailed monitors in post-production suites. And, it’s a perfect complement to our BVM-X300 30-inch 4K OLED critical evaluation reference monitor.”

There’s no word on pricing yet, but Sony expects the display to be made available this summer.
