It seems that Sony may be close to announcing something that looks truly amazing, called the “lens cameras”, a recent leak suggests that they may be releasing a new attachment for smartphones and tablets that will allow you to add better features to your devices cameras.

Featuring a sensor processor, zoom lens, WiFi connectivity and an SD card slot, the device can be used to control the lens, adjust framing and transmitting images and then the zoom and shutter release can be controlled from the lens itself.

Well that’s according to the site SonyAlphaRumors, who have suggested that the devices will be named the DSC-QX10 and the DSC-QX100, the 2nd will include the same sensor used in the RX100 Mark II, and the 1st of the 2 will include a 10x focal range with a 1/2.3 inch 18 megapixel CMOS sensor.

As there’s nothing official yet, pricing and availability is yet to be announced, however with Sony’s IFA conference coming up soon, might hear more soon.
