Today Sony announced the launch of a new controller for their PlayStation 4 controller that has been designed specifically for the younger gamers on the platform.

The controller is called the Mini Wired Gamepad for PS4 and is a mini wired controller that is said to be 40 percent smaller than the original PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller.

On top of that, it also has a really long cable at 10 feet, which is pretty good for kids who might have their TV in a high up place, or just want to sit on the sofa while they play.

That said, the overall design of the controller might attract some longer games to as it has a similar control scheme to the older consoles.

Sony explained more with the following:

Built for young gamers, the officially licensed Mini Wired Gamepad for PS4™ systems is designed to fit smaller hands while providing the same great gaming experience you have come to expect with PS4™systems. Get started with a growing library of family friendly games as you learn and grow as a gamer. Great for companion play, the mini wired gamepad opens gaming to whole family.

The Mini Wired Gamepad provides the essential functions to play most PS4 games while still providing a great gaming experience — that includes the right and left sticks, R1/L1/R2/L2 buttons, directional buttons, and action buttons. Certain touch pad inputs can be simulated via the left or right sticks.

It will be launched for the PlayStation 4 in the US for $29.99.
