Sony has today revealed its latest smartphone creation, the Sony Xperia ZR which as you might have guess, is kinda like the Xperia Z but with a few more features packed in.

One of those new features is some extended waterproofing that allows for photos and videos to be captured in up to 1.5m of fresh water with IP55 and IP58 compliance.

There’s also a smaller display at 4.55 inches with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, there’s also a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Chipset, 2GB of RAM, 8GB in-built storage, up to 32GB expansion with a microSD card, and 4G capability.

There’s also NFC and DLNA technology., a 13 megapixel Sony Exmor RS sensor, dedicated camera button and Bluetooth.

There’s no word on pricing yet for the Xperia ZR, but we do know it will launch in Q£ 2013.
