At IFA 2017 this week Sony announced a brand new set of headsets that will be released in their Xperia range of devices.

The first is also Sony’s new flagship smartphone. It is called the XZ1 and features some of the latest specifications that you would expect from a flagship device.

It comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD HDR display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and Andreno 540 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage.

On the front, there is also a 13MP 1/3.06” Exmor RS camera that has a 22mm wide angle lens and a f/2.0 aperture. It is also joined by a 19MP 1/ 2.3”  Exmor RS camera, 960fps video capture, 4K video recording, and Sony’s triple image sensing technology

To top that off, it also features a similar design to Sony’s previous devices with an IP68 rating that means it is both water proof and has protection against dust.

And all of this comes with Android 8.0 pre-installed.



Alongside the flagship XZ1, the XZ1 Compact was also unveiled by Sony today.

As the name suggests, it is a compact version of the flagship XZ1 that features a 4.6-inch Full HD display and comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, anAdreno 540, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of built in storage.

It also features a microSD card slot for expanding upon that storage.

To top that off, the XZ1 Compact features a 19MP 1/ 2.3”  Exmor RS rear-facing camera, 960fps video capture, and 4K video capture.

It also features a 18MP / 18mm/ Display Flash/ Super wide-angle front-facing camera with an F2.4 aperture.

It also features the same IP68 rating of the last model.


The third and final smartphone that Sony announced during IFA was the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, which features a 5.5 inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. the handset is powered by a MediaTek Helio P20 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM.

The device is also equipped with 32GB of built in storage and it also comes with a microSD card slot which takes 256GB cards.

To top that off, it also comes with a 3430 mAh battery and an 8-megapixel front camera. The rear camera on the handset comes with 23 megapixels.
