Modular versions of technology that is already established are becoming big, with modular versions being announced for smartphones, cameras and now speakers.

Launched on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter, SparkBlocks is a new product by Yousef Saheb Javaher and Ramtin Bidshahri that allows users to assemble their own speaker system by connecting a number of modules.

These modules include the main speaker block that has a rechargeable battery that is capable of lasting up to 4 hours, another block that can extend the battery life by an extra 12 hours, a Tweeter block, a Smart block that adds Bluetooth to the speaker and wireless connectivity that allows support for iOS and Android devices, a LED block that can provide extra light and visuals and we expect more.

SparkBlocks is looking for $100,000 on Kickstarter in order to get the project going, to get to which they are offering pledgers the chance to back the project with $69 or more and get their own SparkBlock.
