SteelSeries has today revealed what they claim to be the world’s first modular gaming mouse, called the Rival 700 it’s probably not the world’s first modular gaming mouse, however, it is certainly interesting, featuring the ability to tailor every aspect of the mouse.

For example, the Rival 700 will ship with a 16,000 CPI optical sensor, however if you so choose, you can replace it with any available sensor in the future, allowing you to upgrade without having to replace your mouse.

You can also customise the RBG LED illumination on the mouse, swap out the USB cable between the included 6ft nylon braided cable or the 3ft rubber cable, of course, you can also do this when the cable runs out.

There’s also customizable tactile alerts that can notify you when you are low on health in a game, or reload, or when your cooldowns have recharged, all of which can be tweaked on a game basis over the SteelSeries Engine app.

To top that off, it also features an OLED display on the side of the mouse, which can be used to show an animated GIF, your game stats, mouse profiles and CPI settings.
