Today it was revealed that Nintendo has had some more success with the app store, revealing that Super Mario Run has been downloaded more than 78m times.

It was announced by the company today in their latest financial briefing, in which they said that around 4m of those 78m downloads where people who also paid the one-time unlock fee, which is about 5 percent of the overall downloads.

Super Mario Run comes with a range of features for free, however, users can pay a one-time unlock fee of £7.99 to grab some more maps for the game.

However, alongside this news, Nintendo also revealed that they are raising this one-time unlock fee to £9.99.

In the first four days it was downloaded 40m times.

This comes after the app first launched on the iPhone and iPad on December 15th last year, making it one of the most popular apps on the app store at the time.
