Normally smart home tech involves connecting multiple bridges and boxes around your home to get the features that you want, if you need a smart camera then you will need a hub as well to control it or maybe you’re plugging in a temperature sensor? That’s another hub and box that you are probably going to have to plug in.

This month something pretty interesting was launched on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform that aims to make the process of setting up a smart home easier, user-friendly, space saving, and fully modular.

It’s called Swidget and it is an outlet that uses your existing wiring but expands upon it with more than just a power socket.

Swidget is particularly interesting because it features a slot in the middle of the two plugs that will allow you to plug in various smart home elements as you need them and where you need them. These modular components have a range of different purposes as of right now, including everything from a carbon monoxide sensor up to a nightlight.

And because they are fully modular, they are also designed to be future proof.

Unfortunately, it uses the US version of a plug socket.

Despite that, you can still check out Swidget in the video below and build your jealousy for it, hopefully, they will create a very with other (and frankly better) plug sockets in the future.

You can also find out more and back it if you live in the US at the source link below.
