Synology recently unveiled their latest 4-bay NAS system, aimed at the general consumer, the drive is a neat storage and backup solution that is priced at just $310 and includes a number of features that make it great for media consumption.

That drive is called the Synology DiskStation DS416j .

Featuring a dual-core CPU, with speeds that exceed 112MB/sec for reading and 101MB/sec for writing according to Synology.

The NAS system is also DLNA certified, and includes support for Apple TV, Chromecast and MiBox, allowing you to easily stream photos, music and other media stored with the NAS system itself, or via other connected hardware via a computer, entertainment system, mobile device or more.

It also includes support for a RAID 5 configuration, with a USB 3.0 port at the back to connect external storage devices, with up to 5 Gbps transfer speeds.

And even with all that, when in full operation the system uses just 21.6 watts of power, or 12.75 watts in HDD hibernation.
