Continuing our annual holiday gift guide, today we are going to talk you through some of the best smartphones of 2013, a list of some of the handsets that you should definitely be considering in your shopping basket this year. The LG G2

At first sight the LG G2 might look a little strange, with all of the buttons moved from the front to the back, to control the G2 you mostly slide and tap your index finger on the buttons at the back of the handset, something that does take some time to get used to, but does make using a handset a lot easily at times.

In terms of specs the LG G2 features a 5.2 inch True HD-IPS +LCD display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 424 ppi, there’s also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM alongside 16/ 32GB of storage, a 13MP rear-facing camera, 2.1MP front-facing camera and connectivity for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot and HSDPA, 42 Mbps; HSUPA, 21 Mbps; LTE, Cat4, 50 Mbps UL, 150 Mbps DL/ EV-DO Rev. A, up to 3.1 Mbps.

The Sony Xperia Z1

The Sony Xperia Z1 is Sony’s latest handset in the Z range, featuring a IP58 certified body it is dust proof and water resistant in over 1 meter of water for 30 minutes, alongside a 1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.0 inch screen with 441 ppi, a Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and an Adreno 330 GPU.

There’s also 2GB of RAM inside with internal storage sized at 16GB, and the option to add a microSD card with up to 64GB of storage and finally a 20.7 megapixel camera on the back, as well as a 2MP camera on the front.

The iPhone 5S

The iPhone 5S is the latest handset to come from Cupertino, featuring Apple’s latest A7 chipset with 64-bit architecture and a motion coprocessor, it might have the best processing power out of the list, and that’s not all, it also has a pretty decent camera, featuring an 8 megapixel rear-facing shooter that has been said to be one of the best on the smartphone market.

In terms of display, the iPhone 5S features a 4 inch Retina display, with a 1136 x 640 pixel resolution at 326 ppi that has a 800:1 contrast ratio.

But probably the coolest feature of the iPhone 5S is TouchID, allowing you to unlock the phone as well as log into your Apple ID account with just a fingerprint.

The HTC One

The HTC One is definitely one of the best looking handsets of 2013, featuring a design that would rival Apple’s, the HTC One has been encased with an aluminium body and features a beautiful 4.7 inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixels and 469ppi pixel density.

Alongside which there’s also a Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a Adreno 320 that is supported by 2GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of storage.

On the back of the handset you will find the well-regarded 4 megapixel Ultrapixel camera, that takes pictures at an amazing level of quality and is backed up by the 2.1MP front-facing camera, alongside the amazing dual front-facing Boomsound speakers.

The Google Nexus 5

The Google Nexus 5 is the latest of the handsets on our list, made by LG, it features a 4.95 inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (445 ppi), Gorilla Glass 3 technology, a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor, a Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, an 8MP rear-facing camera alongside a 1.3MP front-facing camera.

It also features the latest version of stock Android, Android 4.4 KitKat.
