Quite some time ago Elon Musk revealed that he would be revealing some interesting details about new renewable energy.
Today he revealed those new details, in which he announced the launch of two new products by Tesla in collaboration with SolarCity and via their already existing work with Tesla’s battery technology.
The first of the TV announcements was unveiled alongside SolarCity, who will be working with Tesla to launch new solar roof panels that look like normal slate roof tiles, are cheap to install, and can provide an environmentally friendly way to power your home.
He didn’t reveal too many details, probably because most of those details are subject to change depending on what happens with Tesla’s SolarCity acquisition.
But he did have more to show off.
After that first announcement, Musk unveiled Tesla’s new Powerpack 2 battery for the home, which are fridge-sized packs that have been designed to store solar-collected energy and use it during the night, or on a cloudy day.
It features two 14 kWh lithium-ion battery packs, with the ability to store enough electricity to power a standard four-bedroom house for an entire day.
