Xbox’s Major Nelson has today announced that the July Xbox One update is now available to download and install on Xbox One consoles worldwide.

There is no UI enhancements in the latest update, but it does add some new features to your console.

Some of these new behind-the-scenes enhancements will prepare consoles for the upcoming release of Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 10.

Windows 10 will launch on July 29th and once it does it will soon add support for game streaming to the new operating system.

The July update also adds the Backward Compatibility feature that was first unveiled during E3 last month and allows users to play a selection of Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One.

In the blog post Major Nelson also gave a quick reference to the update to the Xbox One UI called the Xbox One Experience that will launch later this year.

This will come with a new homepage, Cortana integration, a quick-menu system and a new Community section.
