You may have seen Samsung’s Dolby Atmos speaker last week and thought about picking one up, well before you do you should probably look at this new one from Philips, which manages to cram the entire Dolby Atmos sound system into one soundbar.
Announced earlier this week at CES 2016, the Philips Fidelio Soundbar has been designed to provide 5.1.2 surround sound, with overhead audio using just a soundbar and subwoofer, making Samsung’s look over the top.
With just a soundbar and subwoofer, the Fidelio can pump out a total of 400W from 18 speakers in total, within which there are two up-firing units, three mid-range drivers and a number of other drivers angled between the tweeters, all of which is designed to provide great voice clarity, and immersive sound.
And even with all this, the soundbar is just 50mm thin, featuring Bluetooth AptX, AAC and NFC.
With the subwoofer, the system then adds the needed low-frequency sound, providing 200W of powerful sound from an 8-inch down-firing driver, creating 360-degree sound to fill an entire room with bass.
The sub offers a low-frequency 200W of powerful sound from its 8-inch down firing driver that Philips says creates 360-degree sound to fill the room and plenty of bass ideal for movie immersion.
The soundbar also has two HDMI-in ports, HDMI Arc, Optical, Coaxial and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Philips Fidelio soundbar will be available in the summer of this year, however, pricing has not been announced yet.
