For some time now we have been reporting on the specifications that have been rumoured for the OnePlus 5, these include a range of different things, but one of the biggest specifications that has been cropping up frequently is that it will come with a Snapdragon 835 processor.

Today OnePlus confirmed that on their forums.

They revealed that they have decided to use the Snapdragon 835 CPU in this phone along with some improvements to make sure that the OnePlus 5 has a “foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance.”

They will also be using some of their own software optimisations alongside this processor, however, the company did not state exactly what those optimisations are.

It has been revealed that they have updated OxygenOS for the OnePlus 5, allowing it to monitor app usage on the phone and then use that data to increase the performance of the applications that you use most often, deprioritizing the ones that you don’t/.

However, that’s all of the official stuff that we know about just yet.

We expect to hear a lot more about the phone during OnePlus’ event later next month, and the phone is expected for release sometime this summer.
