Philips has this week announced a new update for its Philips Hue home automation system, bringing a number of new features to its application.

Now available for both Android and iOS, the newly updated app brings a number of new features to make it easier to control your home with the company’s Hue smart sockets, lights and home automation hub.

They did this by streamlining the application itself, making features easier to control with groups of lights at once directly from your smartphone or tablet.

The 2.0 version of the app also comes with a new ‘Wake Up’ setting that will gently fade your lights on at a certain time, helping you wake up better with a sunrise-like effect in your home.

There’s also a new Nightlight recipe that will provide low levels of blue light so the lights that you have on do not disrupt your sleep cycles.

You can download version 2.0 of the Philips Hue home automation app from the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store today for free.

If you don’t already have a kit, then you might want to pick up the Philips Hue starter kit, which is priced at £150.
