Toshiba has today unveiled a couple of new laptop ranges, called the Satellite U and M series, and includes the company’s first 15.6 inch Ultrabook, packing a 10-point touchscreen, fourth-generation Intel Core processor, Intel HD Graphics 4400, up to a 1TB hard drive, 16GB of RAM and running on Windows 8.

All of this brings the weight up to 2.3kg, with the entire laptop measuring 377.5 x 249.5 x 21.3mm.

In terms of the M series, Toshiba unveiled the M50, M50t and M50Dt, all with a 15.6 inch screen and packing an AMD APU processor or an Intel Core processor, as well as the choice of an Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU, Nvidia GeForce GT 740M with 2GB VRAM graphics or an AMD Radeon HD graphics for the AMD models.

Alongside all of that there’s also the choice of either a normal or a touchscreen display, with 1TB hard drives and 16GB of RAM. Each weigh 2.1kg and measuring 377.5 x 249.5 x 21.3mm.

All the laptops will also feature HD resolutions, with two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, a HDMI output, SD card slot, Gigabit LAN port, Bluetooth 4.0, WIDI, Wi-Fi 802/11 b/g/n an Miracast.

The laptops also feature DTS Studio Sound that boosts virtual surround audio through stereo speakers, with a HD webcam and a stereo microphone, Toshiba say battery life will last up to 7 hours.

Prices for the laptops are still to be revealed, but will be available in the UK this quarter.
