If you are one of those people who find themselves jealous of the other smarter cars on the road, and are looking for a way to push your own car into the 21st century then you might be interested in a new Kickstarter project that was launched recently.

Called GoFar, the project aims to transform any car into a smart one by providing real-time feedback on your car’s performance. The gadget will then allow users to drive more efficiently and hopefully cut back on their fuel budget.

“For every engine speed there is a sweet spot – an optimum throttle position that maximises your power and minimises your fuel consumption. It’s where your car runs best. Driving in the sweet spot saves fuel – which saves money and cuts emissions.

But the sweet spot is different for every engine and at every speed and unless you have GoFar (or are part of a Formula 1 race team) it’s very difficult to find. (For more on the mechanics and science read to the bottom!) When you join the GoFar community you will receive the Dongle (the brain), RAY (the looks) and the app (an app). With their powers combined, they will improve your driving experience.”

Currently the project is looking to raise $50,000 but has already hit over $79,000 at the time of writing, you can back it for yourself at the link below, where it is available from $89 (price increases depending on how many packages are left).

But before you do that, make sure to take a quick look at GoFar via the video above.
