Over the weekend, Tumblr released a promotional webpage for the upcoming release of a new live video streaming service.

According to the page, Tumblr will be announcing the launch of the service on June 21st, which will reportedly a set of live video events such as Harlem Globetrotter’s basketball lessons on June 21st and a broadcast from the surface of Mars on June 21st according to Tumblr.

This will set Tumblr amongst a number of other services like Twitch, YouTube, Periscope and Facebook, but with around 555 million monthly visitors and around 300 million hosted blogs, it is possible for them to succeed.

As of yet, Tumblr has not revealed any information on how the live streaming service will work, or what it will offer, aside from what we have already mentioned.
