After stating that an offline mode would not be possible for Simcity, EA and Maxis has today revealed that they will actually be releasing an offline play mode for Simcity, revealing that they did indeed lie about the game requiring an online content, and it was all to curb piracy after all.

The problem with this now is that users who first tried to play the game ended up facing some issues, and actually stopped playing the game, leading to a loss in the amount of people who played the game.

So is it a little too late for the new offline mode to be released.

The release was revealed in a blog post by Patrick Buechner, general manager of Maxis, who said: “Let’s get right to it. SimCity offline is coming! I’ve wanted to say those words for quite some time.”

“When we launch it, all of your previously downloaded content will be available to you anytime, anywhere, without the need for an internet connection.”

As well as mentioning that the offline version will also allow users to make their own modifications to the game.

“Modding is a big part of our studio’s legacy and we’re excited to see what you guys create.”

The offline game will come as a free download with update 10 and will be available to all SimCity players.
