Twitter has this week announced that it now has over 241 million monthly active users on their service, and 184 million of those 241 million users are using the social network through a mobile.

The announcement comes as part of Twitter’s first earnings report, showing a 30 per cent year-on-year gain in monthly active users, the company has done well since they became a public company in November.

The report also shows that the service added about 9 million user just over the past three-quarters, with Timeline views at 148 billion in Q4 2014, an increase of 26% year-on-year, Twitter now gains about 75% per cent of its revenue from its mobile business.

Twitter’s Q4 revenue was at £243 million, up 116% year-on-year, with a net income of $10 million.

“Twitter finished a great year with our strongest financial quarter to date,” said Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter. “We are the only platform that is public, real-time, conversational and widely distributed and I’m excited by the number of initiatives we have underway to further build upon the Twitter experience.”

This is still only small numbers when  compared to Facebook however, who recently announced that 1,228 million people are accessing it monthly, only 945 million of which are on mobile, Twitter says that earnings will increase in 2014 to $1.2 billion from the previous $1.15 billion.
